Jack Wilshere on course for return despite false rumours; Cazorla deal worth only 11.5mil?

Evening Gooners,

Happy day today as Sky Sports revealed - understood - that Santi Cazorla will be flying in for his medical in the next couple of days to complete a transfer worth a reported fee of 17mil. That's 2mil more than we paid for Arshavin. A player who came with huge expectation on his shoulders and to be honest, failed to live up to them. He started well with his 4 goals against Liverpool and has made some good contributions but ultimately he has disappointed. Had he worked hard in every match but was unable to make an impression we would have a bit more sympathy for him. But when his form slipped he looked out of confidence, was not prepared to work for the team and put on some weight. Lets hope this won't be the case for Cazorla. He must come in and work hard to get into the team. You might say that he would be almost the first name on the team sheet but that doesn't mean he shouldn't work as hard as the next player. Fingers crossed that the transfer goes smoothly and we wrap this up as soon as possible. If and when he signs I will do an article analysing our midfield and attacking options, determining whether it is good enough to challenge for the league.

There have been rumours which started on the notoriously unreliable Goal.com that Jack Wilshere had suffered another setback. Don't believe it. He is on schedule to return late September to early October and nothing has changed. I hope we can ease him into the team as opposed to what we did with Aaron Ramsey who was overplayed last season due to a lack of midfield options.

Nico Yennaris has signed a new contract with the club. Good news, he has put in some admirable shifts for the first team at right back despite his preferred position being central midfield. I honestly haven't seen him play in the midfield so I don't know how good a prospect he is but in my opinion he is a better right back than Carl Jenkinson at the moment. I love Jenks but his defending and positioning is highly questionable.

I'm gonna be stuck to Twitter tomorrow to see if the Cazorla deal is confirmed, I should know better but the excitement is getting the better of me. I just heard that the deal might be worth only 11.5mil - if true that would be the deal of the century. Just rumours though.

'Till Tomorrow
