Tiote linked with Arsenal. Wenger 'looking to spend 20mil on top, top class midfielder'

Its been a very busy day in the Premier League with goals galore. Swansea have kept up their unstoppable form with a convincing 3-0 victory over West Ham. Michu 3rd goal of the season was sandwiched between goals by Rangel and Graham respectively. They have a great team this year. Michu, Ki Sung-Yeung, Chico, De Guzman and Bartley are very shrewd acquisitions.

Elsewhere van Persie inevitably scored a blinder just to remind everyone what he is capable of - I am so bitter about that transfer. I know it made business sense but that doesn't make it feel any better. Fulham gave a fighting performance and Dembele once again caught my eye. He is such a quality player and its a shame we don't need a CAM. He's very strong - he just shrugs people off at will while he's dribbling. He's creative and has a good shot on him. He can also play across a variety of positions. One side of his game he must improve though is his goal contribution.

At White Hart Lane, Spurs managed a draw against West Brom. A satisfying result to say the least. Everton won 3-1 against Aston Villa - Fellaini scoring once again. I love Fellaini. He is a complete midfielder - he's strong, tall and has exceptional vision and technique. He can play deep and behind the striker and contributes goals and assists.

Other scores around the league:
Norwich 1 - 1 QPR
Southampton 0 - 2 Wigan
Sunderland p - p Reading

We have to wait until tomorrow for Arsenal's game and early team news is quite worrying. Szczesny is being assessed after a rib injury while Koscielny will miss out with a calf strain. However, Chamberlain is back in contention.

The ever reliable @AFCAMDEN posted some very promising news on transfers. The tweet was as follows:

'Wenger's on the look out for "A top, top class midfielder". Looking to spend up to £20m on the right player. Reluctant to buy avg/unproven'

That's very encouraging. I have mentioned Dembele and Fellaini as players I would recommend. They have Premier League experience and are proven - yet at the perfect age to give their best years to Arsenal Football Club. But we know that Wenger is looking for a defensive midfielder and therefore we are unlikely to splash out on more attacking minded players. The player who has been most heavily linked in the last week or so is Cheikh Tiote. Newcastle are willing to let him go for the right price and have brought in Anita as a possible replacement if he does leave. Interestingly, Tiote has been left out of Newcastle's squad against Chelsea. I would welcome his signing. Strong, defensively minded and a stand out player last season. His goal in the 4 - 4 draw 2 seasons ago against us still haunts me. Do you think he is a good option?

That's about it for today. Remember to look out for the match preview in the morning.

'Till Then

  1. though i'd luv fellaini at arsenal, but he has been more of an attacking mid these days, whereas wenger wants a truly defensive minded midfielder.
tiote is highly unlikely. not just he's injury prone, but very indisciplined too. he's a popular name on yellow cards..
    eihter inler or m'villa...

    1. Yes, there are better players than Tiote available for that price.
