Morning all,
Very quiet on the news front today, although we can expect to see Arsenal in action again versus Kitchee in Hong Kong. I expect to see a few changes from the side that started the game against Man City and hopefully we can see a strong line up mixed with a few youngsters, like Chuks Aneke and Benik Afobe. What baffles me about our pre-season is the fact that half our squad are not on it, and will not get enough match time before the season kicks off. The only scheduled game after today is on August 11 against Cologne but Arsene did say he wants to organize another one in place of the Nigeria game. We have some important players not with the squad. Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Aaron Ramsey to go along with the injured players like Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Bacary Sagna. All quality players and I can see the potential of a fully fit squad to choose from, its so frustrating that it never happens.
I have it from a reliable source that Arsenal will sign at least 2 player before the end of the window. The 2 players most closely linked at the moment are Nuri Sahin and Santi Cazorla. Nobody truly knows whats going on at Malaga, it seems quite confusing. There are people saying that they will sell Cazorla for 18mil because it will clear all of their debts, there are people saying that the club is up for sale. This seems like it will drag on for quite some time yet. The loan deal for Sahin on the other hand is not so complicated. Madrid are willing to let him go but the problem is he is unsure of the temporary move. He either wants to stay at Madrid or get a loan move to Arsenal with view to a permanent move. But Madrid don't want to lose him permanently.
I am concerned about our selling business so far. We have only sold Vela permanently and the likes of Bendtner, Park, Arshavin, Squillaci still remain at the club. I don't mind if Bendtner stays, at least he can provide decent back up and has a bit of a pedigree in the EPL but the others need to go. There isn't long until the season begins and the selling needs to happen fast.
That's about it for today, no actual news to report.
My prediction for today:
Arsenal 3-0 Kitchee
'Till Tomorrow
