Is Giroud Robin's Replacement?; Chu Young Not Going Anywhere (*sigh*)

Welcome to Sunday and all is a bit quiet following what has been a rough week for Arsenal Football Club. The dust has settled after Robin's bombshell of an announcement and now everyone seems to have accepted the fact that he is going to leave. And the Arsenal management should accept it as well so we can move on and implement the necessary changes to the squad. Sell him to anyone outside the Premier League, offer him to the world's biggest and best. Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan, Bayern Munich could all be in the market for new strikers. Accept anything from 20mil and get it over with. While our biggest problem is letting our biggest players leave, I still feel that replacing them adequately is a must. Who knows where we could have ended up last season had we bought a proper replacement for Cesc. Juan Mata was the player being lined up, and while I can appreciate the fact that we cannot compete with the likes of Chelsea financially, we did take awfully long to agree a fee which in turn alerted Chelsea to his availability. Sometimes Most times we shoot ourselves in the foot.

The big rumour circulating around Twitter yesterday was that we had agreed a deal with Barca which included David Villa and 13mil for Robin. I would drive Van Persie to the airport myself for that, which probably means its never going to happen. Take that story with a massive cup of salt.

Reported Robin replacements are Stefan Jovetic of Fiorentina, Robert Lewandowski of Dortmund and Thomas Muller of Bayern. I cannot see us buying any of them. They will cost too much for Arsenal and we all know that we hate crossing the 15mil mark. I am certain that Wenger knew that Robin was going to leave and therefore bought Olivier Giroud as a replacement. They are actually quite similar when you think about it. Both lead the line well, both are left footed, both are massive team players in that they are able to provide a handful of assists to go along with their goals and both were top scorers of their respective leagues. Obviously Giroud has not proven himself at the highest of levels yet, but in turn does not have as many injury worries as Van Persie. Only time will tell if he was brought as the replacement and whether in fact he is good enough to fill the relatively large boots of the Dutchmen.

In other news, or lack thereof, Park Chu Young has said that he is not considering leaving Arsenal as he has no offers to do so. And why would anyone offer money for a striker who made 6 appearances the whole of last season and is on 40k a week. I am still confused as to why Wenger bought the Korean. He was about to complete a move to Lille when he got a last minute phone call from Wenger pleading for him to choose Arsenal instead. I'm sure that was the biggest mistake of his career so far.

The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal are unwilling to let Van Persie negotiations drag on as they do not want a repeat of last summer. They are willing to keep him  to his final year if a club does not stump up 30mil for him.

And that's your lot today, lets hope that everything is solved before the pre-season tours.

'Till Tomorrow
